About the Artist

Julie de Graag was a Dutch graphic artist and painter known for her striking woodcuts, linocuts, and stylized animal studies. Working in The Hague, she embraced elements of Art Nouveau and Symbolism, often reducing forms to their most elegant essence.

A close contemporary of artists like Bart van der Leck, de Graag’s work exudes clarity and poetic rhythm. Her prints, especially of animals and floral motifs, are admired for their balance of simplicity and spiritual depth. Tragically, she died by suicide at the age of 46, leaving behind a haunting yet beautiful body of work.
