About the Artist

Paul Kersten was a German master bookbinder and designer, celebrated for elevating the art of bookbinding into a refined, standalone discipline.

Working during a time of artistic change, Kersten brought together traditional craftsmanship and Art Nouveau aesthetics, producing books that were as visually rich as they were structurally sophisticated.

He also served as a teacher and author, publishing influential manuals that helped shape the philosophy of book design in early 20th-century Europe. His work remains an important reference point for modern decorative arts and design history.
