About the Artist

Gustave Jéquier was a distinguished Swiss Egyptologist, archaeologist, and scholar known for his pioneering work in the excavation and interpretation of ancient Egyptian tombs and pyramids. A student of Gaston Maspero, Jéquier contributed significantly to the understanding of the Pyramid Texts and royal burials of the Old Kingdom. His meticulous drawings, site records, and publications remain invaluable to Egyptology. Though more academic than artistic in focus, his work often appears in historical and cultural art collections due to its detailed visual documentation and influence on early 20th-century Egyptomania in design and décor.
