Peter Birmann was a Swiss painter and draftsman renowned for his romantic landscapes and panoramic views of the Swiss Alps and the Rhine. Born in Basel, he studied in Paris and Rome, where he was influenced by classical landscape traditions and the emerging ideals of the Romantic movement.
