Hilma af Klint was a Swedish painter and mystic now recognized as a pioneering figure in abstract art—decades ahead of her time. Inspired by spiritualism, Theosophy, and occult practices, she produced large-scale, symbolic works that defied traditional categories.
Her most iconic series, The Paintings for the Temple, combines geometric forms, vibrant color, and coded symbolism to express metaphysical truths and spiritual transformation.
Af Klint kept much of her work hidden during her life, believing the world was not ready for it. Only in recent decades has her revolutionary contribution to modern art been fully appreciated.
