Abbott Fuller Graves was an American painter and teacher celebrated for his vibrant floral compositions and garden scenes. Born in Weymouth, Massachusetts, he studied at the Massachusetts Normal Art School before further training in Paris under Carolus-Duran and at the Académie Julian.

Graves traveled extensively—to England, Holland, and the Mediterranean—absorbing European Impressionist techniques. His canvases often depict lush flower beds, garden pathways, and domestic interiors bathed in natural light.

An influential instructor at the Boston Museum School, Graves shaped American plein-air painting traditions. His fusion of French colorism with New England landscapes made him a leading figure in early 20th-century American Impressionism.
